FTTC/SoGEA Hardware Compatibility

The broadband market has started changing, with customers moving from ADSL/ADSL2+ services, to newer superfast FTTC/FTTP based services. With this brings in some cases a change of hardware requirement as many older routers will not work directly with the next generation of broadband services, however, some can be made to work, with varying degrees of success.
Below is a growing list of older ADSL hardware can be made to work Openreach based FTTC/SoGEA solutions, when partnered with a separate VDSL modem (which needs to be purchased by yourself). You basically end up with 2 devices, connected together via an Ethernet cable. You then make a PPPoE connection in the router, which then presents your username/password (known as PPP) to the VDSL modem, which then makes the connection to ourselves.
